Senior DevOps Engineer – Digital Transformation – £45 – £65k

A new client of ours are currently embarking on a large-scale digital transformation, split into numerous phases over the next few years. Part of the first phase requires a new Senior DevOps Engineer to join their expansive team.

As a DevOps Engineer you will work as part of a team with developers to have insight and ownership over code in production, integration tools, infrastructure, and deployment process. The systems should tell use when there is a problem. If it moves, monitor it.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and own short, mid and long-term engineering resource plans.
  • Participate in strategic planning and the design of an infrastructure roadmap.
  • Participate in strategic planning and the design of the Software roadmap.
  • Ensure systems and services meet set targets within SLA.
  • Analyse and improve upon exiting systems, services and infrastructure.
  • Partake in the adoption and implementation of automation and DevOps to quickly and rapidly deploy instances.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Support application deployments, building new systems and upgrading and patching existing ones.
  • Build and manage development and testing environments, assisting developers in debugging application issues
  • Participate in the building of tools and processes to support the infrastructure
  • Contribute to the creation of system support documents such as run book
  • Leverage scripting to build required automation and tools on an adhoc basis.

  • Experience of Jira (defect reporting and Agile management)
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Comprehensive understanding and belief in Agile principles such as Scrum, Kanban, Lean, Extreme Programming (XP), Test Driven
  • Automation frameworks such as Puppet/Chef/Hudson/Cruise Control

Key Skills:

  • Five or more years of experience in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows and Linux-based production systems.
  • .NET Application Server administration and tuning experience
  • Virtualisation and Cloud (Azure, AWS)
  • Configuration management (chef, Puppet)
  • Continual Delivery (Jenkins)
  • Excellent knowledge of Window & Linux OS
  • Champion the improvement of engineering practices and tools
  • Drive for continual improvement
